Learning objective. Learning about moderated discussion platforms and virtual meeting spaces for interactive learning.
Background. Teachers, as do many other professionals, report more effective learning through “social media” environments. Platforms that allow sharing information and experience and also provide moderation of the discussions by experts of the field have been effectively used in medical education, law and several areas of professional development. The learning/teaching tools that are utilized in complementing are available therefore case discussions, problem based learning and algorithm development can be part of the virtual learning environments that support the sharing/discussion platforms.
Content. We will be sharing our accumulated experience of developing educational programs for different groups of professionals, and how we’ve translated this experience into our educational “social media” efforts for parents and teachers. We will also present examples of using teaching tools in virtual learning environments that will allow teachers, principals and counselors participate at their convenience and join group learning experiences.
